The Challenge

A homeowner in Jenks, Oklahoma had recently completed a major renovation on their 4,100 square foot home. They had invested in high-end finishes, a new HVAC system, a three-car garage with insulated doors, and landscape lighting throughout the property. But the home’s technology was fragmented — a basic alarm system from one provider, a separate doorbell camera, smart bulbs that ran on a different app, and a thermostat with its own standalone interface. Nothing talked to anything else. The homeowner had five different apps on their phone to manage five different systems, and none of them worked together.

They came to Witness Security with a clear goal: one app, one system, everything integrated. Security, locks, lighting, garage doors, thermostat, and cameras — all controlled from a single interface with automation rules that made the house work for them instead of the other way around.

Our Solution

Witness Security designed a unified smart home system that consolidated every connected device under one platform. We replaced the mismatched components with compatible hardware and programmed custom automation routines based on how the family actually uses their home.

• Security system with 10 sensors — door/window contacts on all entry points plus 2 interior motion detectors, all integrated into the central smart hub
• 4 smart deadbolts — front door, back door, garage entry, and basement; each lock generates unique codes for family members, the housekeeper, and guests with scheduled access windows
• Smart lighting control — 28 switches and dimmers replaced throughout the home, organized into scenes (Morning, Evening, Away, Movie Night) that activate with one tap or on a schedule
• 3 garage door controllers — each door can be opened, closed, and monitored from the app; auto-close triggers if any door is left open after 10 PM
• Smart thermostat integration — the existing HVAC system was connected to the platform with geofencing; the house adjusts temperature based on whether the family is home, away, or sleeping
• 6 exterior cameras — 2K resolution with person detection, covering all four sides of the property plus the driveway and back patio
• Custom automation routines — programmed by Witness Security based on the family’s daily patterns

The key automations we built:

• “Goodnight” routine — locks all doors, closes all garage doors, arms the alarm in stay mode, dims all lights to off, sets thermostat to sleep schedule, and activates camera motion alerts
• “Away” routine — arms the alarm, randomizes interior lights to simulate occupancy, drops HVAC to energy-saving mode, and enables all motion notifications
• “Welcome Home” routine — triggered by geofencing when the homeowner’s phone is within 500 feet; disarms alarm, opens garage, turns on entry lights, and adjusts thermostat to comfort setting

The Results

The homeowner went from managing five separate apps to controlling every system in the house from a single interface. The automations run quietly in the background, and the family rarely has to touch anything manually.
